Crystal J. Huang is an award-winning director, producer, and actress. She brings a rare cross-disciplinary perspective to genre cinema, visual storytelling, and emerging technology. Crystal directed and produced a stylish psychological thriller Dark Feathers: Dance of the Geisha (2024), in which she also served as lead actress. The film's cast also features multiple world class dance stars, including Gilles Marini and Karina Smirnoff, along with Michael Madsen as the boss of a modern Samurai clan. It blends dance, martial arts, psychological suspense, and female-centered storytelling. Following a limited theatrical release, the film earned 21 wins and 3 nominations from festivals and industry competitions, with press coverage from outlets including The Guardian, Film Threat, Asian Movie Pulse, and Nerdly. Crystal also directed and produced the horror feature The Ritual House (2025), which won Best Horror Feature and Best Leading Actress at multiple film festivals, including the Golden State Film Festival in Hollywood. As of 2026, Crystal’s upcoming work includes The Tardins, a family-driven comedy with action elements starring Robert LaSardo, in post-production. Crystal contributed to the film as co-director and producer. As an actress, Crystal’s screen credits include Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld (2024), Bermuda Island (2023), Sangre Negra... Black Blood (2021), Mistletoe Massacre, Demons at Dawn (2022), Dinner with the Devil, The Tardins and Anno 2020 (2024), among others. Before becoming a director, Crystal worked as a software engineer and earned certification as a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer. Her technical background informs her interest in innovation, cinematic world-building, and the evolving relationship between technology and storytelling. She also has a background in dance and photography, having trained at Speiser & Sturges Acting Studio and performed in a major stage role in The Joy Luck Club. Raised in China and now based in California, Crystal brings a cross-cultural perspective to stories about identity, power, sacrifice, and transformation.
