Darius Rathe

Darius Rathe is an Iranian-Canadian actor, director and producer working out of Toronto, ON. He graduated from the University of Windsor's Bachelor in Fine Arts Acting program for Classical and Contemporary theatre back in 2019. During his four years in school, Darius spent his summers acquiring additional training with the guidance of the New York based SITI Company, The Michael Chekhov Consortium and The Stratford Festival Summer Academy. Since graduating, Darius has been working full-time in Film, Television and Commercials, occasionally returning to the stage, where his true passions reside. Some of his most recent works include, The Boys (Amazon Prime), Motor Heads (Amazon Prime) and Law and Order (CityTV). As an emerging filmmaker, Darius wasted no time producing his first feature-length film which he starred in, Duel on the River (2021), with his brother, Isaac Rathe. Upon completion, the film went straight to Amazon Prime and shortly after, was sold to a Blu-Ray house where over 500 copies were sold and continue to sell. To this day the film continues to turn a profit. Their second feature film is currently in pre-production, with plans to begin filming in March of 2026. Among the many highlights in Darius' early career, co-founding the comedy sketch group Friendly Fire Films is at the top of the list. The production company was established in 2021 and since then, their films have been featured at over a dozen film festivals across Canada, as well as numerous International Film Festivals across the globe. Festivals like Pendance (2026), Chilliwack independent Film Festival (2025), Forest City (2025), Chattanooga Film Festival (2025), Blood in the Snow (2024), SPASM (2024), Hamilton Film Festival (2023).Selected awards include: BEST PRODUCTION (Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival), BEST CANADIAN FILM (300 Second Film Festival), BEST SHORT FILM (Alt Film Festival). Darius has many upcoming projects in 2026 to look forward to, but among them, he is most excited to be the lead actor in Hard Choices directed by Damian Romeo and Johnathan Sharp, as well as leading in The Dweller, directed by brother and lifelong collaborator, Isaac Rathe. On the stage, Darius is over the moon to be working with the Spindle Collective on their upcoming new-play, Siofra directed by Kathleen Welch.
