Actor, Producer, Writer
Hal Cumpston is an accomplished actor, writer and producer. Hailing from Sydney, Australia, his first major success came at the age of 19 with the coming-of-age feature-length comedy Bilched, which he wrote, produced and starred in. After a national release in Australia, Bilched enjoyed international attention, winning Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, and Grand Prix Best Feature Film at the prestigious Chelsea Film Festival in New York (2019). This success led to interest from the U.S industry from which Hal's first American audition saw him land a lead role as 'Silas' in The Walking Dead: World Beyond. Hal then went on to realize some of his finest dramatic work as Zach Marconi in Hulu's first season of Nine Perfect Strangers. Hal's dedication to his craft and his impressive work ethic has seen his career move forward in leaps and bounds. To date, he has had significant roles in major Australian TV productions, including Safe Home and The Artful Dodger (playing a deliciously fun rendering of Oliver Twist). Most recently, Hal featured in Rebel Wilson's feature directorial debut, The Deb (forthcoming). Hal has consistently been cast in American films, including Peter Farrelly's The Greatest Beer Run Ever (2022) and Spin the Bottle (2024). Hal features in a significant supporting role for Peter Farelly's forthcoming summer blockbuster Balls Up (2026). Hal will soon reprise his role as Corporal Papadakis in FOX's comedy Going Dutch. The second season is shooting in Dublin, Ireland. Hal's film-making approach and dedication to extremely high production value self-tapes have enabled him and others within his creative circle to book major roles. Most recently, Hal co-directed his younger brother Joseph Zada's self-tape, and he subsequently secured the lead role of Haymitch Abernathy in the new Hunger Games Sunrise on The Reaping. Hal has several original projects in development, most prominently Donny & Jazz, a buddy cop comedy.
