Jason Gray-Stanford (born in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a Canadian actor and voice artist whose versatile career spans film, television, and animation. He trained in theatre at the University of British Columbia, laying the foundation for a nuanced and enduring screen presence. Gray-Stanford is best known for his beloved portrayal of Lieutenant Randy Disher on the acclaimed USA Network series Monk (2002-2009), a show that won multiple Emmy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards during its run. In 2023, he reprised his role as Lt. Randy Disher in Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie, delighting fans of the iconic series. In film, he appeared in the Academy Award-winning A Beautiful Mind (2001), which earned Golden Globe Awards for Best Motion Picture - Drama and acting honors for its stars, and for which he received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination as part of the ensemble cast. He also appeared in Clint Eastwood’s Flags of Our Fathers (2006), an Academy Award-nominated war drama, and a range of character films including Mystery, Alaska, Earth to Echo, The Miracle Season, and the Sundance selection Summer of ’84.
