Jesse Pomeroy made his first short film at the age of 11 and continued to make home movies until entering the Art Center College of Design where he received a BFA in Film and completed the award-winning short "Candlelight." A detour into music led Jesse to travel the world as a guitar technician for such storied acts as Stevie Wonder, Natalie Cole, Frank Sinatra and Martin Page before he began a lengthy tenure as a Post-Sound Supervisor and editor in television and feature films while continuing to make short movies and hone his craft as a writer/director. He has been nominated for three Emmy awards for the Netflix hit "Cobra Kai" and the limited series "When They See Us." He was the Dialogue Editor on 2025's Academy Awards Best Picture winner "Anora." In 2006, Jesse directed his first feature "World Full of Nothing" which took Best Director honors at the 2009 Naperville Film Festival. In 2015 he wrote, directed and produced the micro-budget "Hell Mountain" starring Catherine Lidstone ("The Chosen") and Taylor Dooley ("The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl"). "Hell Mountain" was released theatrically by Indie Rights in 2017 and on a variety of streaming platforms where it still lives today. The Los Angeles Times called the film "ambitious" claiming Jesse was "steeped in the genre" and applauded the screenplay and Jesse's potential for bigger things. In 2022, Jesse returned to short films with the horror/comedy "Heavy Vinyl" which had a wildly successful festival run around the United States and Europe, garnering a tidy collection of awards and mentions and included an album's worth of original music Jesse wrote and performed for the film and as part of the story, as it was tale of backwards messages on a heavy metal album. "Play Along" is Jesse's most recent feature. Filmed in Canada over 12 days and finished in Los Angeles, the abduction thriller between a psychopathic costume-loving madman and his teenage victim has been awarded Best Film at festivals in Canada and the US and Jesse was awarded Best Screenplay for his twisted efforts. The film has been released by Cranked Up Films on Apple TV and Amazon Prime before going wider on a variety of streaming platforms.
