Kasimir Burgess

Kasimir Burgess is an award-winning Australian filmmaker working across drama and documentary. His early films, including the Crystal Bear-winning Lily and the Raindance award-winning Booth Story, established his intimate, visually driven style. His feature debut Fell drew praise from Screen Daily and The Hollywood Reporter. He later directed the AACTA - and Walkley-nominated Franklin - Australia's most successful documentary releases of 2022. His latest feature, Iron Winter, premiered in competition at Visions du Réel and won many major international awards including the Banff Grand Prize and the Camerimage Golden Frog. Burgess' work explores resilience, belonging and the relationship between people and place.
