Director, Producer, Writer
Leon Lee is a Peabody Award-winning filmmaker based in Vancouver, working across documentary and narrative film. His work focuses on grounded international stories about power, conscience, and institutional pressure, and he has built particular authority in China-related documentaries and elevated geopolitical thrillers. His films include the Peabody Award-winning documentary Human Harvest, the documentary feature Letter from Masanjia, and the narrative feature Unsilenced. Across nonfiction and scripted storytelling, Leon is drawn to stories shaped by censorship, surveillance, coercion, diaspora tension, moral compromise, and the collision between private life and larger systems of power. He is especially interested in directing and producing projects with political urgency, emotional force, and real-world stakes, whether they involve China directly or emerge from adjacent international terrain.
