Leslie started working at age four, appearing in a television commercial for Fairy Washing-Up Liquid with the line "Mummy, why are your hands so soft?' She switched from modeling to acting after being offered a part in the film "Quadrophenia". It gave her the encouragement to get back into acting, but she got typecast as a blonde cockney whom everyone thought was dumb. After doing the sitcom "Happy Apple", she decided she wanted to get away from that, so she presented Channel 4's "The Tube" for six months. She found this terrifying, as she didn't know much about music. It turned out, that they wanted her image more than her knowledge, but she enjoyed the travelling with Jools Holland. Autumn 1985 saw the release of her film "Shady", in which she played the daughter of a rich family and had to have elocution lessons. "CATS Eyes" was her first TV drama series. The first thing she did as an adult on TV was "The Gentle Touch" with Jill Gascoigne. She is married to actor Lee Chapman and has two sons, Joseph (born 1990)m and Max (born 1993). Her sister is former "Hot Gossip" dancer Debbie Ash. They appeared together as sisters in "Rosie Dixon--Night Nurse".
