Louis L. Reed is a social impact strategist, advisor, and storyteller whose work bridges policy reform, media, and narrative change. After serving nearly 14 years in federal prison, Reed emerged as a leading voice in criminal justice reform, contributing to the passage of more than 30 state and federal bills, including landmark federal sentencing reforms. Reed is the founder of Decoded: Story Lab, a documentary production company focused on socially driven storytelling. He also serves as a strategic advisor on the Academy Award-shortlisted documentary Holding Liat, supporting the film’s impact strategy and narrative positioning. His media work includes featured appearances in the Amazon documentary First Step, When Does Freedom Begin, and consulting on Hulu’s scripted series UnPrisoned. Reed is also the creator and host of the podcast Illmatic: Surviving Beats, Overcoming Breaks, which explores trauma, resilience, and hip-hop culture.
