Director, Producer, Writer
Luis (Lou) Ferrer is an award-winning director and writer with scripts optioned by legendary filmmaker, Spike Lee and Netflix. And his feature film, "Motherland," is in development with Gaston Pavlovich, producer of Martin Scorsese's "The Irishman" and "Silence." In calling Ferrer's feature directorial debut, "MIA", "humanely observed and tenderly acted," The New York Times said of Ferrer, "Director Luis Ferrer has guts ... the kind it takes to make a [film] that embraces being small and speaks in silence and whispers, not screams." Ferrer studied directing, writing, and producing at the American Film Institute and at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where he also taught and penned several feature scripts under the tutelage of Spike Lee, Sabrina Dhawan ("Monsoon Wedding"), and Oscar-nominated writer, Alec Sokolow ("Toy Story"). He is a former HBO and NBC executive and a decorated combat veteran of the war in Afghanistan, where he served with the Army's 35th Infantry Regiment, Recon Scout/Sniper Platoon. He lives in both New York and California with his wife Eden and 6-year-old son, Jack.
