Maiara Walsh is an accomplished Brazilian-American, multi-disciplinary actress and award winning filmmaker whose work lives at the intersection of TV, film, music, and writing. She began her career as an actress, appearing in popular TV shows like Cory in the House, The Vampire Diaries, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Switched at Birth, Desperate Housewives, The Last Ship, Good Trouble, as well as Netflix projects Girl from Ipanema, Diary of an Exchange Student, the Brazilian series, Reis (Kings), and Ben Hur, 2026, a series shooting in Rio de Janeiro. Maiara makes her directorial debut with Bight, a psychological thriller that examines power, desire, and intimacy, distributed by Scatena and Rosner. The film releases February 10th, 2026. She co-wrote the film with Cameron Cowperthwaite and stars alongside Cameron, Mark Hapka, and Maya Stojan. The film is produced by White Room, in association with 80 Proof and Inspired Ink. Maiara’s work spans psychological thrillers, dark comedy, and documentary, unified by a strong visual language and character-driven storytelling. She collaborated closely with the Kayapó tribe in the Amazon, directing a National Geographic documentary short, Warriors, about five indigenous young women learning to become filmmakers to preserve their traditions. Committed to independent film and boundary-pushing narratives, Maiara continues to develop work that challenges form while remaining deeply human. Maiara’s diverse talents also include music, stunts, producing, community building, and designing immersive experiences.
