Comedic-actor and filmmaker Mark Atkinson hails from Rhode Island and studied Communications and Film at the University of Rhode Island. After graduating from URI, Mark began his entertainment career by performing stand-up comedy in the Rhode Island and Boston comedy circuit. It wasn't long before he transplanted to Southern California, where he studied improv at legendary improv schools The Groundlings and The Second City in LA. Mark soon became a prolific and in-demand comedic actor acting in many projects produced within the San Diego film community including; short films, web-series, independent feature films and of course commercials that vary from local, regional, national, and even international advertisements and campaigns. In addition to acting, Mark is also a multiple award-winning filmmaker and has written and produced several projects in recent years under his production company Kahuna Productions. Kahuna Productions specializes in short form media projects and film with an emphasis on comedy and parody; including A Quint-Mas Carol (2016), The Patio (2017), When Howie Met Ronnie... (2018), The Power Agent (2020), and most recently Pulp Friction (2021). With over 70 acting credits on IMDb, Mark humbly admits that several of them are actually "watchable" including the #1 Netflix show Selena: The Series (2020). In 2025, Mark produced and moderated a successful panel at San Diego Comic-Con titled JAWS 50: The 50th Anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s JAWS. Mark repped by Shamon Frietas Talent Agency and Park Artists Group and resides in San Diego and LA. Although he prefers San Diego to LA for obvious reasons. So far, Mark has several exciting up-coming projects in the works for 2026!
