Director
Sasha Kasiuha is a New York-based multidisciplinary artist and director working across film, fashion, and technology. He has collaborated with artists and brands including Madonna, BlackPink, Tom Ford, John Galliano and Maison Margiela. Kasiuha directed Nighthawk (2024), a film created for Maison Margiela's Artisanal 2024 collection under John Galliano's creative direction, known for its use of four-dimensional storytelling-blending horror, documentary, and live performance in both digital and physical spaces. He also served as Creative Content Director for Madonna's Celebration Tour, which featured AI-generated stage visuals for the first time in her career. During the tour, Kasiuha directed the Live to Tell segment, a tribute to victims of the AIDS epidemic, displaying images of over 300 individuals who died from AIDS-related illnesses, including Keith Haring and Freddie Mercury. This tribute was featured in The New York Times. Kasiuha co-directed the VMA-nominated concert film Madame X (2021). His work explores the intersections of visual narrative, emerging media, and cultural critique. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Fashion Film and Experimental Narrative In Nighthawk, Kasiuha introduced the concept of "dimensional splitting," a technique in which characters move between screen and physical space. At its premiere in Paris at Cinema Le Balzac, lead actor Frederic Bittner stepped from the screen into the audience as part of the live experience, reflecting the film's exploration of digital saturation and sensory overload. Featuring sculptural makeup by Pat McGrath, the film was noted in V Magazine for its unconventional approach to fashion media. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Live Performance and AI Visuals As Creative Content Director for Madonna's Celebration Tour (2023-2024), Kasiuha developed AI-generated visuals, using Runway's Gen-1 and Gen-2 models to create fluid, evolving backdrops. Unlike pre-rendered CGI, his AI-driven visuals dynamically reacted to the performance, transforming the stage into a living, immersive entity. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Visual Storytelling and Activism In addition to its visual experimentation, Live to Tell served as a memorial piece that blended archival materials with stylized projection. The segment received critical attention for its emotional impact and was cited by The New York Times as "a moving and trenchant piece of political theater." _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Expanded Media Practice Kasiuha's broader practice frequently explores the boundaries between physical and digital storytelling.
