Shalane grew up on a parrot farm in regional NSW. Raised alongside hundreds of birds, horses, donkeys, rottweilers, snakes, & siblings. After relocating to the big smoke for university, and graduating from a three year Bachelor of Performing Arts, she then fell suddenly and unexpectedly into the music world after winning a songwriting competition at Tamworth Country Music Festival along with her sister. They quickly formed a folk duo called 'Siskin River' for which she wrote & toured original music for the next five years, as a singer and guitarist. The band released two EP's and an Album, and played at major Australian music festivals including Falls Fest, Woodford, Queenscliff, Fairbridge, Festival of The Sun, and Bluesfest, to name a few. After the unexpected death of their father the band broke up, & Shalane moved to Sydney to re-ignite her acting life. Since then she has worked steadily as an actor, and is currently working on a solo music project with hopes to release her music in 2026.
