Stephen Uppal is a British actor, writer and producer known for grounded, physically commanding performances across drama, crime and action. His television credits include series regular Ravi Roy in Channel 4's Hollyoaks and Akram Rahul in BBC's Silent Witness. His screen work also includes Twist, Arthur & Merlin: Knights of Camelot, Kaur, Looted and the action short Damned. Uppal wrote, produced and starred in the award-winning short film ABE, undergoing a four-stone physical transformation for the role. ABE won the Williams-Byrne Bursary at the TriForce Film Festival, held at BAFTA, and was acquired for international distribution by Shorts International. Trained at ArtsEd in London, Uppal also holds a BA in English Literature. His subsequent screen-focused training has included work with David Rotenberg of Professional Actors Lab and acting coach Dee Cannon. In 2026, he passed ABRSM Grade 5 Piano Practical and began working towards Grade 6. He has a long-standing background in boxing, kickboxing, MMA and Brazilian jiu-jitsu and is a qualified personal trainer, bringing authentic physicality to performance without being limited to action roles. He is represented in the UK by Ignite Elite Artists.
