Stijn Koomen is a Dutch actor, writer, and director with a career spanning over 25 years. He first broke through at age 12 in the series "Wat Nou!?" (dir. Eddy Terstall & Simone van Dusseldorp). He became a household name starring as Mick in the hit series "I am Willem" (Ik ben Willem), a role he inhabited from 2002 to 2009 under the direction of the acclaimed Mijke de Jong. Koomen is known for his ability to portray complex, internal characters, most notably in the Golden Calf-winning feature "Stages" (Tussenstand), where he shared the lead with Marcel Musters and Elsie de Brauw. In 2010, his international profile was cemented when he starred in David Verbeek’s "R U There", which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival (Un Certain Regard) as the sole Dutch feature selection that year. Transitioning behind the lens, Koomen studied Writing and Directing at the Theater Academy De Trap and the Scenario Vakschool. He has written and directed several acclaimed shorts, including "Ein Wunsch nach Weihnacht", which premiered at the Netherlands Film Festival and the Mammoth Lakes Film Festival in Los Angeles. Koomen hails from a creative lineage; he is the grandson of the renowned novelist Har Scheepens (author of 14 novels). Influenced by his artistic upbringing to pursue continuous creative development, Koomen has evolved into a versatile multi-hyphenate filmmaker.
