Sujoy Mukherjee is an Indian filmmaker. He has won Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Award in 2019 for best short film ‘Ab Mujhe Udnaa Hai’ as a Director. A physically and emotionally traumatized girl, dares to flap her wings again and soar high in the sky. A story of guts, grit and glory. This short film went on to win 39 Prestigious Awards Worldwide and was previously streamed on Disney+Hotstar. Sujoy Mukherjee recently made the short film ‘Hunar’ a powerful story on parenting, which has won 24 awards at prestigious film festivals. The film explores how parents impose their unfulfilled dreams on their children and often underestimate the real talent within them. Sujoy Mukherjee is the director of Filmalaya Studio and Praedium Infra\Joy Mukerji Productions. He hails from a family of legends who have left an indelible mark in the history of Indian Cinema. He is the third generation of filmmakers from the lineage of Padma Shri Sashadhar Mukherjee to Shri Joy Mukerji. He started his career as an Assistant Director and did films as a lead actor in Mehboob Mere Mehboob, Hum Hain Kamaal ke and Pyar Pyar. ‘Hum hain Kamaal ke’ was a Silver Jubilee film. He has garnered an enriching experience as a writer, director and producer. He created and Produced daily soaps for National Channel Doordarshan like Apne Paraye , Gustakhi Maaf and Aye Dil- E- Nadaan. Aye Dil- E- Nadaan was awarded the best serial of the year for Doordarshan. ‘Battle of Swaraj’ a documentary film directed by Sujoy Mukherjee, covering ten Forts across Maharashtra is widely appreciated and winning awards. His father, Joy Mukerji's unreleased movie featuring his maternal uncles Ashok Kumar and Kishore Kumar- 'Love in Bombay' under Joy Mukerji Productions was released in theaters and on Zee5 on the great occasion of 100 years of Cinema by him and his elder brother Monjoy Mukerji. Sujoy was also the Associate Producer of the film ‘Hai Apna Dil Toh Awara’ under Joy Mukerji Productions and the film was streaming on Amazon Prime. Sujoy Mukherjee Produced the Web Series "Nachaniya" which is streaming on Hungama Play and has received good response from viewers. He later Produced one short film titled "Ummeed" which has won seven awards, and the Micro Web Series ‘Zindagi Anmol Hai’ is about a young girl faces things going wrong in her life, and is about to commit the ultimate sin of committing suicide, She is reminded that this life is hers to live, not to take away. The Durga Puja set was recreated by the Producer Sujoy Mukherjee, for a realistic experience of the divine occasion. ‘Zindagi Anmol Hai’ has received over 15 awards worldwide. Sujoy Mukherjee conceptualized and created the song ‘Hamara Hindustan’ during the Covid-19 lockdown. The song was selected as the official campaign anthem by the BJP to raise awareness in the fight against Covid-19 and was officially released on their Instagram page. Sujoy Mukherjee has Produced and Created several Music Albums across leading Music labels, including "Mera Bappa Aaya" and "Raghav Darshan Hoga" for Saregama; "Bolo Maa Kali Ki Jai" and "Mere Ram Ram" for T-Series; "Kanha O Mere Kanha" for Zee Music; and "Maa Durga Maa" for PIJM Entertainment/Music. Sujoy Mukherjee believes in creating spiritual, soulful devotional music that reflects India’s rich cultural heritage. He feels that while embracing modernity, it is equally important to stay deeply rooted in our traditions-blending the essence of the past with the sensibilities of the present in a graceful and meaningful way. In addition, he has also Produced modern romantic songs such as "Pyaar Beshumar Hai," "Mujhe Ishq Hone Laga" and "Shahe Khuba" for PIJM Entertainment/Music. Sujoy Mukherjee has completed his short film ‘Disconnect to Connect,’ a powerful, message-driven project in post-production at Filmalaya Studios. Sujoy Mukherjee is one of the owners and directors of the iconic Filmalaya Studio / Joy Mukerji Productions. He oversees operations and has modernized the studio with state-of-the-art facilities.
