Susan George's mother, Billie, was a former chorus girl and her father was a musician who had a small part in the movie Straw Dogs (1971). She also has a sister, Pam. At one time her parents owned The Court Hotel. Her first stage appearance was aged four, when she had to model a dressing gown at a hotel and fell on her face. Aged six she was doing commercials for Sugar Puffs, Fish Fingers and Air lines. In 1961 she was at the Holy Trinity School, Cookham, Berkshire, then Corona Stage School with Frazer Hines and Dennis Waterman. She later performed at London's Apollo in Shaftsbury Avenue in "Country Girl" with Patrick Mower. She has been in over 25 films and married fellow actor Simon MacCorkindale on Fiji.
