Doc Martin

An inspector from the General Medical Council arrives to monitor Martin’s practice as a requirement following his tribunal hearing. Louisa tries to make a good first impression, but Martin hates having another doctor in the surgery.

As part of the inspector’s recommendation, Martin is forced to attend refresher courses, starting with phlebotomy. While Louisa worries that James is struggling to make friends, she attempts to befriend the oblivious new school head. Bert’s cousin arrives with a business proposition for the Larges.

As Martin avoids his approaching birthday, Louisa plans to have her study group over to their home for a presentation. PC Penhale investigates a break-in at Ruth’s house, and Al finds a way to make up for his lackluster proposal to Morwenna.

Martin scoffs at his next assessment, which includes seeing mock patients and diagnosing their pretend illnesses. As Louisa searches for Buddy the dog—who has gone missing—a familiar face arrives in Portwenn on official police business.

Penhale has a real investigation on his hands when a camper is shot, and he feels duty-bound to look after the victim. James’s first playdate goes awry, and the Larges’ business aspirations fizzle as the pub goes up for sale, but they can’t afford to buy it.

Martin and Louisa attend their first fertility consultation, but Martin struggles to adapt to being the patient instead of the doctor. Penhale investigates a case of vandalism at a local surf school, and Louisa prepares for her first supervised counseling session.

Mrs. Tishell's young cousin shadows her at the pharmacy for some work experience. Al decides to move in with Morwenna, and Angela visits Martin's surgery and notices something wrong with Buddy.

Ruth plans an intervention to help Martin overcome his blood phobia before his final medical refresher course. Wedding bells are ringing in Portwenn, but things don't go as planned when the officiant cancels at the last minute and a medical emergency threatens to ruin the day.
