In the aftermath of Jordan's revelations, everyone is estranged from each other but slowly, they begin repairing their relationships.

The residents become very excited when a televised car chase comes to a dramatic end with the car crashing in the hospital parking lot. Excited to be in the middle of the action, Elliot gets to treat Officer Berson, one of the cops who was admitted with chest pains and Turk treats the driver of the car.

J.D. is torn between participating in Dr. Kelso's case study contest and gaining the respect of Dr. Cox. After experiencing awkward silence when left alone together, Elliot and Carla realize that they have nothing in common except J.D. and Turk. Elliot attempts to address the issue by finding ordinary things they have in common, while Carla doesn't even think it is an issue.

Turks jealousy turns into guilt when he learns of Dr. Kelsos sexual discrimination. J.D.s big mouth gets him in trouble with Carla when he reveals her secrets to Turk. Elliot tries to befriend Dr. Cox.

As second-year residents, J.D., Turk, and Elliot find themselves in unfamiliar situations while adjusting to their more senior positions in the hospital.

J.D.'s older brother, Dan Dorian, has come to town for a short visit. Within the first few minutes of his visit, he manages to anger Dr. Cox and to pretend being a doctor by giving a patient a diagnosis. Dan starts to hint that he's attracted to Elliot, which doesn't sit well with J.D., who lets him know that he and Elliot previously slept together, so she is off limits. Elliot later joins J.D.

While Turk waits for Carlas answer, his visiting brother reveals news about his own marriage. Dr. Kelsos colleague and friend has to face the end of his career and Dr. Cox and Jordan disagree over learning the sex of the baby.

Turks patience is wearing thin waiting for Carlas answer to his proposal and Elliot dates a hot male nurse.

J.D. and Turk experience bad and good karma. Elliot and Paul take their relationship to the next level. Jordan goes into labor.

J.D. learns another of Dr. Cox and Jordans secrets. Carla believes her engagement ring has taken away all her sexual appeal. Turk and Dr. Kelso find alternative means of letting off work tension.
