10 years previous to the invasion of Britannia. In a barren wasteland under the hot desert sun, Aulus commands Lucius to end the life of the man being crucified.

The Dead Man, Harka, meets with Hella and asks her to find someone for him. Divis tends to Cait’s injuries following the Trial of Air.

In animated flashback, we learn Harka and Veran are brothers and see them playing together as young boys in a natural paradise. But Harka is unhappy and ends up killed by a snake, believing Veran betrayed him.

Hella pays Aulus a bold visit with an offer she knows he won’t be able to resist. After paying Hella dearly in silver, Aulus gets hold of information to lead him to the Chosen One.

Divis has a very awkward dream that causes tension in his relationship with Cait, in the midst of their preparations for the Trial of Water.

Philo and Brutus, deserters from the Roman Army in Season One, are enjoying their freedom and deepening their knowledge of psychedelics.

As sole survivor of the druid attack on the Roman camp, a traumatised Vitus returns to the castrum with a message for Aulus from the Dead Man. Aulus rides away, leaving Vitus in charge.

Aulus returns to the castrum where Domitius confronts him. Aulus reveals to him that he serves Lokka, an omnipotent being that came before the Roman Gods. Domitius barely has time to take in this outrage before Aulus strikes.

Divis wakes up alone and is trapped under the Deads Man’s spell, unable to stand up. He realises Love was sent by Harka and is heartbroken that he has failed the prophecy.

Amena has to face Aulus again, but the previous events have changed her and she nurses in her heart a desire for vengeance.
