It's the Air Force's longest serving bomber. Built when the world stood on the brink of nuclear war, the B-52 Stratofortress stretches an enormous 156 ft long, flies nearly 9,000 miles in a single trip, and can carry up to 45 bombs at a time.

It's the most versatile plane in the United States Air Force inventory today. It began as the ultimate dogfighting machine, designed to be inherently unstable and with more thrust than the pilots could handle. But to stay relevant the F-16 had to learn how to do it all.
