Ashley is sent away to a private school. Matt is kicked off the basketball team and breaks up with Ashley. Courtney confides in Arseman and they try to help Ashley.

Matt confides in his sister Erin. Brooke and Dylan face off. Billy tells Courtney their parents are still fighting, even after breaking up. Courtney and Arseman talk about Matt.

Matt turns to Courtney for help. Billy tries to impress Amanda. Brooke sticks her nose into Courtney's business. Dylan and Chris cross swords over the band. Amanda tries to coach Brooke in math.

Billy's afraid Dylan's going to kick him out of the band. Courtney confronts Brooke. Amanda can't believe Stacy admires Brooke. Dylan learns Chris caused the misunderstanding with Billy.

Courtney goes to Arseman for advice regarding Jake. Matt shows interest in Courtney. Everyone's flabbergasted that Dylan has invited Janice over to his garage for band practice.

Arseman advises Courtney regarding Matt. Brooke makes trouble with Janice, then compounds the problem with Dylan. Amanda rejects Billy's romantic overtures and Ashley's back and with Dylan.

Billy goes to Dylan for advice about girls. Chris pressures Dylan about the band. Courtney feels she's betrayed Ashley, with Matt. Matt confides in Ashley and it goes wrong.

Matt's back in form on the basketball team. Dylan asks Ashley to try out as the band's lead singer. Matt's drinking problem raises its ugly head. Billy's got a crush on Ashley.

Ashley and Courtney angst over Matt. Billy's the "mature man" with Ashley. Dylan asks Arseman to audition for the lead singer and Arseman keeps them guessing.

Arseman decides to join the band. Dylan, Chris and Billy don't see eye to eye. The band auditions for its first gig... at the Avalon. Janice is implicated when Grandma's necklace goes missing.

Brooke stirs up more trouble over the "stolen" necklace. Billy confides in Courtney about problems with their parents. Ashley receives a gift from a "Secret Admirer."

The band is dealing with a case of nerves before its first gig. Chris wants Dylan to dump Billy as drummer in the band. The precious necklace turns up in an unexpected place.

Chris chats up Ashley and Ashley encourages him. Amanda's exposed as a thief. Courtney tries to get Billy to be realistic about the band. Chris presses Dylan to dump Billy as drummer.
