1. 18 Chefs Compete
Chef Ramsay splits up the contestants into two teams. For the season's first challenge, the budding chefs prepare their signature dishes. The winners ride a hummer to Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach to meet William Shatner ("Star Trek") and musician Billy Sherwood (Yes). In addition to making reservation letters, the losers set the dining room for the night's service.
2. 17 Chefs Compete
Each team must retrieve 25 crabs from the ocean. Splitting into pairs, the teams then have to make ten crab cakes for Chef Ramsay. The winners go horseback riding at Cave Creek Outfitters and dine at Talavera. The losers peel shrimp, as well as prep clams and lobsters that will be used in the next dinner service.
3. 16 Chefs Compete
In this episode's challenge, the teams have to match fish heads to their particular bodies and then prepare dishes to impress guest judge Michael Cimarusti. The winners take surfing lessons taught by Anastasia Ashley in Manhattan Beach. The losers prep fish and eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
4. 15 Chefs Compete
The contestants prepare American comfort food for a panel of judges comprised of Chef Ramsay, Chef Suzanne Goin and Chef David Burke. The winners sip cocktails aboard the American Pride in Long Beach. In addition to preparing both kitchens for dinner service, the losers peel a huge shipment of onions.
6. 13 Chefs Compete
The teams cook lunch for current and retired firefighters who are in the midst of their charity ride commemorating their friends. The winners head to Malibu, dine at a vineyard and sip wine with Ramsay. In addition to prepping 400 chicken wings for the next dinner service, the losers clean the firetruck.
8. 11 Chefs Compete
Each team must create a dish using either beer, wine or liquor that will then be judged by Ramsay and guest bartender John Ratzenberger. The winners go rollerblading while the losers grab a beer with sous chef James Avery at the Golden Road Brewery. The losers wash the silverware as well as steam, starch and iron tablecloths.
9. 9 Chefs Compete
The remaining chefs must cook with exotic proteins, including alligator, ostrich and wild boar to impress Chef Ramsay and the owners of the restaurant Animal. The winners spend a day at the spa while the losers first deep clean both kitchens, then drink a milkshake made with leftover proteins from the challenge.
10. 8 Chefs Compete (Part One)
The chefs cook a Mardi Gras-themed homecoming dinner for Calabasas High School. Both teams have 35 minutes to create three meals - one seafood appetizer, one chicken entrée and one beef entrée - for the homecoming committee. The winners spend the afternoon attending a pirate show while the losers help the committee decorate the dining room.
14. 5 Chefs Compete
Given 45 minutes, the remaining contestants must make small dishes for the guests at a private concert featuring the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music orchestra. The winner tours Los Angeles by helicopter while the losers separate hand-ground peppercorn and prepare the station for the next dinner service.
15. 4 Chefs Compete
Chef Ramsay brings the final four to a supermarket where each chef receives $25 and ten minutes to find ingredients for a delicious vegetarian dish. The winner gets a private parasailing view of Newport Beach, California and a three-course dinner at Studio in Laguna Beach. The losers clean the leaves out of the fountains, sweep the steps and parking lot and hand-polish the wood in the grand hall.
16. Winner Chosen
The finalists have one hour to devise five dishes - one hot appetizer, one fish entrée, one chicken entrée and one beef entrée - that will be judged by an array of top chefs.
