The River

While out playing, young Silja finds a severed arm and her parents inform the police anonymously. This is the second body part to be found in the past few weeks. Deputy Chief Inspector, Thomas Lønnhøiden wants to open an investigation, but faces reluctance and disapproval from the Chief of Police. During the night, Silja goes missing and a dead body is found wrapped in plastic.

Did NATO Officer, Mia Holt’s actions cost Silja her life and why are her superior officers commending her judgements? Mia begins to grow suspicious that something is amiss within the military base. Despite warnings, Thomas begins investigating Silja’s death, and discovers a seemingly abandoned sawmill that holds macabre secrets.

During an arrest, a suspect is shot and killed by a member of the military. Further inspection indicates that the bodies found are at least 35 years old. DNA testing of the victims reveal some shocking news for Thomas and he begins to wonder if the police force is under the authority of the military HQ and NATO staff.

Thomas’ investigation reveals several links to military operations in the 70s and 80s. The search for the truth becomes personal as Thomas becomes obsessed with solving the circumstances of his parents’ disappearance. At every turn Thomas seems to be met with a brick wall of further falsehoods and misgivings. Who can he trust to help him?
