Bette and Tina are back together and dealing with parenting Tina's newborn daughter, Angelica. Helena purchases a struggling movie studio. Jenny, fed up with Midwest life, ponders moving back to Los Angeles with her new girlfriend, Moira.

Kit hires a party promoter to plan a gambling night at The Planet. Jenny wonders where she stands with Moira during an eventful road trip. Alice struggles with dependency on anti-depressants and Dana copes with finding a lump in her breast.

Shane finally opens her own hair styling business. Bette loses her job, forcing Tina to take work at the studio under Helena. Meanwhile, Jenny and Moira arrive back in Los Angeles. Kit is surprised by drastic proposed changes to The Planet.

While Tina and Helena attend a documentary screening, Bette travels to Washington D.C. to speak at a Senate hearing. In Los Angeles, Jenny puts her dreams of becoming a writer on hold and starts working as a waitress at The Planet.

Tina finds herself attracted to men in sex chat rooms. Dana receives news that she has cancer and needs surgery. Helena pursues the documentary film maker despite her claims that she's straight. Moira goes out on the town as her male alter-ego Max.

Bette allows Tina to explore her feelings for men. Jenny meets with a potential publisher. Billie offers Moira testosterone drugs. Dana checks herself into the hospital for her breast cancer while Lara contacts Dana's parents.

On a trip to Vancouver, Tina explores her feelings for the opposite sex. In Los Angeles, Dana's cancer treatments puts a strain on her relationships. Moira begins hormone injections. Kit takes control at The Planet and gets the B-52's to perform.

Jenny plans a charity event to help Moira pay for her surgery. The girls go on a trip to honor Dana's expected recovery. Meanwhile, Bette kicks Tina out of the bedroom and finds peace in Buddhism. Kit gets unexpected help with her music career.

Tina goes on a date with a divorced man. Meanwhile, Jenny throws a benefit party for Max at the WAX, but is appalled by their increasingly aggressive behavior. Also, Carmen comes out to her family. Helena's affair with Dylan takes a surprising turn.

Lara is still in Paris, oblivious to Dana's worsening health. Jenny introduces Max to her former boyfriend, Tim. Peggy Peabody arrives back in town to help Helena with Dylan's lawsuit. Tina has lunch with Henry and his friends.

At Dana's uptight and fiercely conservative parents attend her funeral, still in denial to her true sexual orientation. Max gets a new job a company that denied him as "Moira," giving Jenny something to write about. Lara finally arrives home.

Everyone is still grieving over Dana. Helena starts planning Shane and Carmen's upcoming wedding. Kit has stunning news that she and Angus are pregnant. Alice continues to drown her grief with anti-depressant pills and mindless sex.
