The Vision of Escaflowne

Van is gravely injured after the battle. They bring him to the ship of Dryden, Millerna’s fiancé. He tells them that Guymelefs like Escaflowne are cursed. To heal Van, they need to fix Escaflowne. But, unfortunately, it’s not that simple.

Van is overcome by the souls of Dilandau’s men that he has killed, and he loses himself inside Escaflowne. Hitomi goes in after him, hoping to reach him. And while Van recovers from the incident, two women from Zaibach attack them in the night.

Much to Allen’s displeasure, Dryden takes his father’s diary and tries to find clues to the Mystic Valley. There they can learn more about Atlantis and the Draconians. But the girl Allen’s father speaks of…does she have a tie to Hitomi?

Hitomi opens the way to the Mystic Valley, and when they arrive, Van and Allen are transported to different planes. As Hitomi and the others find out more about Atlantis, Hitomi is told the dark truth about her powers and predictions.

Hitomi, Van, and Allen come face to face with the one behind Zaibach-Dornkirk. He tells them how he came to Gaea and the reason behind his grand plot. When they are imprisoned, Van must use his connection to Escaflowne to rescue them.

Everyone reunites in Asturia. Dryden announces that he and Millerna will marry. Van asks Hitomi to stay with him, but fails to portray his feelings correctly. Folken plans to use the ‘fate alter’ to change Hitomi and Van’s destiny forever.

Folken infuses Naria and Eriya with Fortune Blood to increase their luck. With this, they should be able to finally take on Van. On the day of the wedding, Hitomi reads Millerna’s fortune. But when she wills the cards to change, destiny changes forever.

Naria captures Hitomi but struggles as she reacts poorly to the Luck Intensifier. Van searches for her on Escaflowne and faces Eriya. Unable to take on the luck soldier, he focuses his efforts on attacking Folken. Will this finally be the end?

Hitomi and Van go to meet with Folken in the ruins of Fanelia. Folken tells him about the day he abandoned his home and how he came to work under Dornkirk. He reveals his true motives and wishes. But is it what Van also wants?

Folken goes to Asturia seeking Asylum. As an offering, he reveals everything about Zaibach including what they plan on doing next. The kingdom prepares for war, and Allen asks Hitomi to marry him. Before she can finally answer him, Zaibach attacks.

Hitomi wakes up back in her world. Even though she is home, she feels a pull towards Gaea and towards Van. Back in Asturia, Allen is shocked when his lost sister, Celena, suddenly returns. But the reunion might not be what he expects.

Hitomi and Van return to Gaea on a bloodied battlefield. Van agrees to stay and fight but sends Hitomi to Asturia. Worried, she asks for Folken’s help but he plans to go instead. But the vision she has of his fate…can she really let him face Dornkirk?

Zaibach is defeated, but the fighting doesn’t end. Allen stops Van from killing Dilandau and the two face off. Hitomi reaches out to Van to stop his drive to fight. When they finally realize their feelings, can the hatred and war finally end?
