The Bear Whisperer

The biggest of the black bears are rumbling into town. These big bears are non-stop eating machines who command the best habitats, the best feeding areas, and the respect of lesser bears, but even they must respect the one man in town who stands up to them: the Bear Whisperer, Steve Searles.

Three young bears show up in the town of Mammoth Lakes. The bears are the pre-teens of the bear world and they're on their own without their mothers for the first time. It's up to Bear Whisperer Steve Searles to teach these clueless young bears how to stay out of trouble until it's time to return to their dens for winter hibernation. Steve's got his hands full.

A bear's summer is all about food -- packing on enough weight to make it through the next winter hibernation. In rare cases, bears in Mammoth Lakes will break into trash bins, cars, even houses in search of easy pickings. It's the job of Bear Whisperer Steve Searles to use aversion therapy to teach them that bad behavior will be punished.
