In this week's episode, Caroline arrives at Fitzpatrick's with fourteen of her rescue dogs, including Cookie, a tiny 4 year-old Papillon. Cookie has developed polyarthritis that has destroyed the cartilage in her elbows. Noel offers Cookie a double total knee replacement - the smallest he has done yet.

5. Marley, Kasper, Rex the ninja bolt
Pug-mad Mother and daughter Deborah and Rebecca bring in their beloved 8-year old pug, Marley. Marley has been suffering with medical issues throughout his life and now severe pain in his elbow is making it difficult for him to walk. Deborah and Rebecca want to avoid amputation but it's a big decision to go ahead with the surgery they hope will save his leg.

In tonight's episode, Wilson, a three year-old Newfoundland, is struggling to walk on his severely bent front legs. He's already undergone several operations, but so far no vet has been able to successfully straighten his legs. This could be Wilson's last chance.

Ken has travelled through the night to bring his much-loved Doberman, Clyde, down from Cumbria especially to see Professor Noel Fitzpatrick. Clyde is suffering with a severely diseased spinal cord that will continue to deteriorate if he doesn't undergo surgery. It will be a high-risk operation but if Clyde doesn't receive the treatment he needs he may face euthanasia.

This week Professor Noel Fitzpatrick comes to the aid of two-year-old Bichon Frise, Lexi, who has suffered with elbow pain all her life. As Lexi struggles to walk, Ann has resorted to taking her out in a pushchair. Noel suggests inserting a cutting-edge surgical implant and using stem cells to grow new bone around it.

He lives with 24-year-old Ellen, who has severe learning difficulties. Poppy was found abandoned in a garden, probably due to her abnormal legs.

Mischievous and pampered young Basset Hound Barney is 'top dog' in Pat, and daughters Lyn and Michelle's home, especially since Pat's husband died last year. Salmon and venison are some of his favourite treats. But lately Barney's been suffering from weakness in his back legs. The girls bring him in to Fitzpatricks where an issue with Barney's neck is identified.

Gary and Warin bring in their six-year old Shih Tzu, called Lucky. She's been referred to Fitzpatrick's with severe arthritis in her hip. She's in so much pain that she is on a diet of painkillers and can barely walk, and Gary has to carry her everywhere. However when Professor Noel Fitzpatrick examines Lucky he is worried that her symptoms could signal something more serious than arthritis.

At Fitzpatrick Referrals one of Professor Noel Fitzpatrick's Senior Neurologists, Jeremy, is faced with an extremely challenging case. Arlo, a 7 month old Chihuahua was born with hydrocephalus, a neurological disorder where excessive fluid accumulates on the brain resulting in a bulging head. If left untreated Arlo will not survive the condition.

Baloo, a very large Great Dane, makes a big entrance to the practice when he comes in for major spinal surgery. Baloo is suffering from Wobbler Syndrome, a condition that often affects this breed. He is coming in for an operation to relieve the pressure on his spinal cord, but at 85kg, he'll be one of the biggest dogs that Professor Noel Fitzpatrick has ever performed this surgery on.

At the end of a busy day, Milo, a beautiful two-year old Bengal cat, is rushed in to Fitzpatrick Referrals by Sharada and Philip after being hit by a car. Milo's life hangs by a thread, and when Professor Noel Fitzpatrick examines the x-ray pictures they reveal that Milo has broken his back and dislocated his spine.

In this Supervet Christmas Special Professor Noel Fitzpatrick is asked to help a very unusual visitor to the practice; a Humboldt Penguin chick with a very unhappy foot! Wall-e is from Longleat Safari Park in Wiltshire, and an orphan as both his mother and father died.
