Yakari

Reckless Crow has an extraordinary talisman: the claw of a giant grizzly, that gives him strength and dexterity. Jealous, Cloud Full of Pride covets this talisman. Furious at Reckless Crow's refusal to lend him his talisman, Cloud Full of Pride leaves the tribe, deciding to kill the first bear that crosses his path. Yakari cannot accept this casual violence.

One of the tribe's warriors is the victim of an accident on wolf territory. Yakari decides to come to his aid. But this time, Straight Gaze, refuses to let his son to go alone because of the dangerous nature of his mission. So, accompanied by his father Yakari goes to the rescue.

The whole tribe is impressed when they see a meteorite fall from the sky. Curious, Yakari and Buffalo Seed wish to find it. But they have not taken into account Swift Squirrel, who has the same idea. As Yakari is about to retrieve the coveted object, Swift Squirrel causes a rock fall.

An ancestral object that belongs to the tribe has been stolen from Restful Rock's tepee. Buffalo Seed boasts in front of Straight Gaze that he is the best tracker and will bring back the stolen object before anyone else. Yakari, wanting his father to be proud of him, takes up the challenge and heads off on the tracks of the thieves. But, is the honour always in the victory?

Having lost the "the most beautiful bird-song" competition as judged by Yakari and Little Thunder, Mic-Mac the crow, pursues the little Sioux and his pony, non-stop , seeking vengeance: he steals their food, spoils their games and walks, wakes them up in the deep of night; the two friends desperately try to find a way to capture Mic-Mac.

What is this loud and persistent noise that is scaring the people and the animals? Is it a spirit? Have Yakari and Buffalo Seed, through their dance, awoken the Thunder Bird, who brings storms such as these? Yakari cannot allow fear to take hold of the camp. He leaves to find out what could be causing such a fracas.

In the absence of the warriors, Yakari and Buffalo Seed have to look after the elders. But it's not easy! Restful Rock and Speedy Turtle are active and mischievous elders. Reminiscing about his childhood prompts Restful Rock to spread his wings and try to mount his horse once more. An audacious whim for his age, and one that could be dangerous.

Wooden Arrow prepares for the Otu,hau, his tribe's gift, a ceremony in which he will cast aside all his belongings, and then be dependant upon the generosity of his people. But then he discovers someone has been in his tepee! Everything has disappeared! Is there a thief in the camp? Yakari and his friends decide to investigate, with the help of Droopy Ear, his sense of smell and his clumsiness!

A beaver pulls down a tree in which there is a nest. Yakari immediately reassures the distraught mother bird. He promises to recover her eggs intact. But the nest, floating down river, has become caught inside a grotto occupied by a wolverine. Yakari, aided by Little Thunder, Wooden Head the guilty beaver, and a bat who wishes to return to her lodgings, do all they can to save the nest.

Yakari and Rainbow meet up with their old friend the donkey, grumpy as usual, who complaints that he has lost one of his goats. The children go to search for her, but time is running out as the little goat, who has been looking for a quiet place in which to give birth, is being pursued by a puma. The children find her just in time to welcome the arrival of the new-born.

Trouble has arrived! An unknown Indian tries to recapture Great Grey, Rainbow's horse. He confirms that the horse used to belong to him. Yakari and Buffalo Seed try to do their best to keep the great Mustang. Rainbow has to chose to let her horse go free rather than see him captured by a stranger. The horses are freed. They belong to no one.

Moon Spirit feels she's getting old and before going to the warriors' heaven she would like to return one last time to the hill where she spent her childhood. She leaves, despite the approach of winter. Yakari and Rainbow accompany her, but so does a starving pack of wolves. Will memories and the fight to live, give new life to the old squaw?

Reserves of the colour red are dwindling. Someone has to look for the clay used to make the colour. But to the great surprise of Yakari and Buffalo Seed, it is Slow Strider who is put in charge of this mission. The two children discover that hunting clay isn't as easy as it sounds and that despite of his lack of speed, Slow Strider can teach them a lesson.

The children discover the skeleton of a giant bison. Buffalo Seed pulls off one of the immense horns suddenly a violent storm breaks out, immediately followed by a torrential downpour. Buffalo Seed is convinced that the Bison's spirit is angry with him. In a panic, he disappears during the night. Yakari will find him thanks to the other giant horn, that he removed from the skeleton.

Big game is becoming more rare; the tribe lacks food. Speedy Turtle has saved some small yellow seeds from her childhood, they are called sun seeds (corn). She tells Yakari that if they knew how to use them, the Sioux would never have to fear hunger again. However a magpie steals the small bag which contains the seeds.Yakari has to do everything he can to retrieve the seeds from the magpie.

It is the tribe's feast day. The hunt has been successful. The only person who is not rejoicing is Yakari. He wants to take by surprise two warriors who have returned to track a buffalo. Yakari is disgusted. Have they not been taught that the Sioux never hunt for more than they need? Yakari tries to do anything to mislead the two warriors when he realises he has mistaken their intentions.

Which one, Yakari or Buffalo Seed is the bravest, the most intrepid, the strongest? Incapable of agreement they ask Restful Rock to judge. Amused, the old Indian gives them a challenge: each must bring him a rock crystal, a rattlesnake's scale and the feather from a pheasant, and all within one day.

Yakari has been having nightmares. To help him sleep better his mother Midnight Braids, decides to make him a dream-catcher and goes into the forest to find the necessary things. But Midnight Braids is threatened by a wolverine. Yakari has a premonition of danger and goes to find his mother. Will he arrive in time to save her?

Linden the beaver cannot bear being treated like a "little one"! He decides to go off and discover the world, completely alone, "like an adult". But it's very dangerous for him to move away from the river and separate himself from his clan, especially when the wolverine is around. Luckily, Yakari and Little Thunder are there to watch over him.

Whilst playing in the forest, Droopy Ear discovers a lost wolf cub and becomes infatuated to the point that he takes him back to the camp. When Yakari explains that a wolf cannot live like a dog amongst men, Droopy Ear doesn't want to understand. Since that's how it is, he decides that he will go and live amongst the wolves.

Red Face the snake is anxious after a bird of prey threatens her eggs. On the advice of Great Eagle, Yakari takes Red Face's eggs with the intention of keeping them safe in the Great Den, where they can hatch in safety. It is a highly risky voyage, and definitely the greatest responsibility that Yakari takes!

The otter and the grizzly are squabbling over the fairest way to divide the fish and are unable to reach an agreement. Yakari tries to reconcile the two friends. Doesn't friendship mean compromising sometimes? However it's difficult for the grizzly to change his impulsive character. The unexpected arrival of a pelican ultimately becomes the reason for a reconciliation.

The tribe's shaman demonstrates to Yakari the importance of the circle in the objects and life of the Sioux. Yakari asks why, but instead of a response, Wise One sends him to the mountain, "to look for the Big Nest". Yakari leaves. Thanks to Great Eagle's magic, the Big Nest is revealed together with an extraordinary message of wisdom.

Yakari and Buffalo Seed accompany Reckless Crow, to capture a Mustang. But because of their lack of discipline, the horse escapes! Reckless Crow teaches them some lessons about tracking. Some tracks nearby convince the children that  they may have found a giant bison. Does such a creature really exist or are they dreaming?

Yakari and Little Thunder have fallen into a ravine. Yakari loses consciousness and when he comes to, Little Thunder has disappeared. Yakari goes to look for him when, suddenly, a lynx appears! It is the one called Guardian of Secrets who wishes to have Yakari´s extraordinary gifts at his service. Will Little Thunder arrive in time to save Yakari?
