The L Word

The fourth season of "The L Word" opens with a tense custody battle between Bette and Tina. After leaving Carmen at the altar, Shane returns to Los Angeles and falls into a spiral of drugs and alcohol. Meanwhile, Kit faces problems in her pregnancy.

Bette begins her new position as the dean of California Arts College and meets her new boss, Phyllis Kroll. Alice is dazzled when she meets a Latina woman named Papi. Tina is forced to fire Helena from the studio, leaving her with nowhere to go.

The girls have a hard time mixing with Tina's new conservative, straight friends. After coming out to Bette, Phyllis attends a Western-themed party at The Planet. Bette ends up in a precarious position with her new teaching assistant, Nadia.

Bette must carefully navigate the relationship with a potential university donor when the work of artist Jodi Lerner stirs things up. After a single bad review leads to the failure of her book, Jenny seeks revenge against the journalist.

The tryst between Bette and her T.A. threatens her new career; Alice breaks up with Phyllis after meeting her husband; Tina discovers Angus with her nanny, Hazel; Jenny publishes a short story in "The New Yorker" that infuriates Alice.

Bette enjoys a secret new romance as she clashes with Tina over the baby's preschool. Meanwhile, Max fears that he may face gender discrimination at work. Papi and her friends teach Helena, Shane, and Alice how to play poker.

Jenny's short story about her friends sparks interest from Hollywood. Helena struggles to pay back her $50,000 poker debt. Alice's new girlfriend Tasha experiences flashbacks to the war in Iraq. Max faces more troubles at work.

Jenny's revenge on her critic backfires in front of her agents. Tina meets Bette's new girlfriend. Kit has a breakdown while on stage at The Planet, and unloads on the cheating Angus. Helena falls further into the depths of gambling.

As Tina and Jenny begin the search for a director, they have creative differences over the development and direction of their movie. Alice and her friends console Leonard, Phyllis's heartbroken husband. Kit makes a crack in Papi's tough exterior.

Kit turns to alcohol after infidelity from Angus. Jenny and Tina finally agree on a director for the movie. Bette's control issues make an ugly appearance when she introduces Jodi to her friends. Max makes a trip back to his hometown.

Bette finds out that Jodi has been offered a job on the East Coast. As Tasha's memories continue to haunt her, she is ordered to keep her sexual orientation a secret. Meanwhile, Kit continues to fall further into drinking.

Alice has a hard time accepting that Tasha is heading back to Iraq. Bette gets a heaping dose of honesty from Tina. Tina and Kate Arden decide to exclude Jenny from a meeting with executives. Max decides to go to San Francisco to pursue surgery.
