Alec travels back in time to prevent Emily's death. Kiera must follow to prevent Alec from altering history in a way that could end her chances of returning home forever. Kiera has to solve a series of Liber8 connected bank heists, and discovers the robbers are controlled by a recently escaped Lucas. Carlos's new and unwanted knowledge about time travel begins to affect his work. Meanwhile Alec is shocked when he learns that Escher was his father and that he left his vast corporation, Piron Corp, to him.

Kiera's world view comes into question when she encounters modern day police corruption. Now she must work to exonerate a college student used as a scapegoat in the cover-up of a school shooting involving police. Meanwhile, Alec meets resistance to his takeover of Piron, and secures an unlikely ally in Dillon.
