Circus Kids: Our secret World

Its the start of the season but when Storm Doris hits, the circus kids are in a race against time to help pack down the big top and avoid a disaster. Rosita and Eva have waited five months to perform, after leaving the circus to attend school but now forced to remain inside their caravans until the storm has passed, they face an opening night with no rehearsal time.

15 year old Imogene has never stayed the night alone before or even cooked her own tea but with just weeks to go until her GCSEs she's leaving home to join a travelling circus. Britain's youngest knife thrower takes on a new role when the whole community comes together for a christening in the Big Top and the pressure for increased ticket sales leads to a clash between two rival circus's.

7 year old Brandon is sent to the circus as a punishment after getting into trouble with the police. In an attempt to turn his life around, he attempts to perform the knife throwing act made famous by his Dad. Eager to follow in his family's footsteps, an 8 year old clown - who may soon have to leave the Big Top and go to school- debuts an act with his Dad.

In this eye-opening documentary, we meet kids whose families stretch back 16 generations in the circus and others who have run away to follow their Big Top dreams. These kids are professional performers by the time most children start school, and enjoy a freedom that other kids could only dream of - but away from the bright lights of the Big Top, they live off-grid at an unforgiving pace.
