11 months into his 13 year sentence, Cleaver navigates the politics of prison life while Scarlet prepares his appeal.

Cleaver manages to outsmart the appeals judges and secure his release, but his world on the outside has fallen apart; Barney has cancer, Scarlet has taken up the practice, Nicole and her love child are living in his flat, Wendy and Roger are getting married and Cleaver's son Fuzz is abandoning university to do aid work in the Congo.

The film based on the life of Joshua and Missy is released with a surprising casting choice for the part of Cleaver (Cate Blanchett, "Lord of the Rings"). Scarlet appoints the real Cleaver as her junior counsel for Helen, a doctor's receptionist charged with defrauding Medicare of $400,000 to fuel a gambling addiction.

A murder brings Felicity back into Cleaver's life, and Cleaver can't say goodbye to Wendy or Missy.

Things are looking a little too good for Cleaver; his practice is booming, Barney is thriving and he and Felicity are falling in love, so surely there must be some nasty surprises in store.
