Charlie scrambles to get his first big kill and rebuild his traplines before winter. Heimo's daughter arrives, but they find the cabin to be uninhabitable. Meanwhile, Bob struggles with his health and misses the woods.

Tracking a caribou herd, Heimo's daughter and her husband are out to prove they can make it in the refuge. Tyler and Ashley hope to make life with a new baby easier by installing a well and running water in their cabin.

The loss of Bob is felt across the refuge, and Heimo boats to Bob's cabin to gather possessions for his family. Charlie recovers his father's shotgun from a hidden survival cache, and Edna prepares her favorite meal, caribou head.
