Bette and Tina wait eagerly to see if Tina will get pregnant. Meanwhile, Tim invites Marina to dinner at their house, unaware of her encounter with Jenny. Bette becomes angered by the encounter between Jenny and Marina suggests Marina stay away.

Bette engages in a battle of wills with the chairman of the California Arts Center and takes a desperate step to get an artwork approved for exhibition. Meanwhile, Jenny begins to recognize her feelings for Marina and struggles to resist temptation.

Bette greets Tina's pregnancy with apparent delight. Jenny confides in her former college professor, Nick Barashkov, that she is involved with Marina. Jenny's relationship with Tim is in danger when he believes that Jenny is cheating with Nick.

After Tim finds out about Jenny's affair with Marina, Jenny and Tim quickly marry. Bette and Tina announce their pregnancy to Bette's family but her father's reaction is disheartening. Meanwhile, Dana has an exciting career opportunity arise.

At the gallery, Bette's commitment is tested by a rising artist. Tina is harassed by the sperm donor's girlfriend. Still upset with Jenny, Tim returns home from their wedding alone. Jenny is left to hitchhike back to Los Angeles.

When Jenny finally arrives home, Tim asks her to move out. Jenny leaves to stay with Marina, but discovers that she has another lover. Bette and Tina struggle with their fears about parenthood. Dana fears that she may lose her endorsement deal.

Jenny tries to explain her confused sexuality and current situation to her one-time roommate. Meanwhile, Bette's mixed race background is questioned. Dana decides to come out to her right-wing parents, even though she knows they will not approve.

Bette faces professional problems at the art gallery and personal problems at home. A has-been actress makes a pass at Shane. Jenny is more confused than ever. Tim refuses to take Jenny back and Marina defends her relationship with Francesca.

While volunteering, Tina comes across dirt on Fay Buckley, who is determined to close down Bette's gallery. Cherie's relationship with Shane is in danger. Trouble arises between Marina and Francesca. Jenny tries to help with Tim's new dating life.

In preparation for the gallery's new show, Bette hires an attractive female contractor, Candace. Meanwhile, Tina, Jenny, Shane, Alice, and Dana take a trip to Palm Springs. Jenny meets a woman named Robin and the two immediately hit it off.

After a near riot in the gallery, Bette, Dana, Shane, and Alice find themselves locked up in the L.A. county jail. Things continue to deteriorate between Marina and Francesca. Jenny begins discussing divorce with Tim.

As the 'Provocations' show finally opens at the gallery, Bette beings a fling with Candace. Jenny begins a lustful relationship with Gene while still involved with Robin. Shane runs into professional trouble. Tina finds out about Bette's affair.
