Appu The Yogic Elephant

Appu's life is filled with joy. He is happy splashing in the water and listening to stories. He learns the Yogic elephant ways from Guruji, and some special life lessons from his mother. He knows that he is 'destined' for bigger things.But the super powers he has remain a mystery to him. It's a happy day in Upvan jungle.

Appu meets Neena. He makes friends with her. Somebody of a different species. Human! Everywhere he turns there is something new awaiting to surprise him. Being a superhero, getting past these little hurdles is no big deal.

Yaaaawn! It's a new day! Appu is thirsty. where should he find a waterhole? In the bathroom, that is ruled by the Monkey Royalty, King and Queen Proper Lee. The 'king' has a toilet bowl for his throne. He is very serious about his role. He commands respect, quite literally. Queen Lee is more than happy to teach her young friend about humans.

Neena has gone to school. Appu is alone with Tiger.And he's hungry! So what does he do? He scampers for food, quite naturally. One thing leads to another and then he breaks Neena's mother's favourite statue. Even worse, someone catches a glimpse of his trunk! Trouble, trouble, trouble from every corner indeed. Who should come to Appu's rescue?

Appu's and Neena's worst fears come true! The silly zoo-keepers succeed. They take him away to the zoo. The world looks topsy-turvy. The animals, Appu makes friends with, don't give him a rosy picture either. They are all captive. There is no escaping. Does Appu have the inner-strength and confidence to escape the bars of the zoo?

Appu gets out of the time-out zone purely with his will! He rises up above the dust devil. He is more than certain that he can make it out of the zoo too. And not alone! Of course, not! He forms the great escape team. They all have a single mission in mind.

The great escape team seems to be all geared up and prepared for a break out. Appu inspires them to dare to believe and they all march forward, but the wacky zoo-catchers are not that far away. They are right behind! As dumb as they might seem, they do handle the 'tranquilizer' guns, and they can put Appu and his friends to sleep with the pull of a trigger.

Appu saves Neena, he gets her out of the pit, and all seems well. A giraffe, a tigress, a baby elephant out loose in the city could only spell trouble. It's not like they're invisible! Besides, will it be easy for zoo animals to wade through a jungle full of shiny fast moving animals, that wait for nobody. What could possibly happen if they are spotted?

It's back home for Neena and back to jungle for Appu, Stretchy and Igress. They all seem to be happy that they made it out of the zoo. It has been quite a roller-coaster ride for all of them-- escaping the guards and breaking through the strong wall! Neena has been out the whole evening, something a child of her age hardly ever does. Any parent would be out looking for their child.

It's been a rocky roller coaster ride for Appu, Neena and Tiger. Now they are all back where they are supposed to be. Home. Appu is back in his jungle with this new friends Stretchy and Igress, and Neena is back in her concrete jungle. Things have changed for all of them. Neena has a few-day old baby brother, while Appu has to combat the loss of his loved ones.

Neena is all alone, pondering over all the good times she's had with Appu. Things have changed for her at home since her brother's birth. Her parents are busy with taking care of the little one. Happens! Her parents have grow stricter with her. She can't go to the forest, she has to finish her homework on her own, and to top it all keep Tiger out of trouble.

We all know what a sensitive action hero Appu is. He hears calls for help, and bam he's there with this electrified trunk. What is that special thing in him that gives him that extra boost to go about saving people from disasters? He's got all the power, and all the heart! That's how he saves the planet, and does his part.

Appu finally emerges as an invincible hero in his own right. He knows what his powers are. He has been the single strong invisible force acting all through Upvan. It wasn't long ago that his home was destroyed, and people he loved disappeared into clouds of dust. It was almost like a swirl of negativity ate every bit of hope living in him. But being the superhero he is, he never lost hope.
