Thomas and Friends

Thomas is sent to collect some children from the airport for the Sodor Summer Picnic. After meeting Jeremy the Jet plane, Thomas can’t shake the feeling that it is better to be a jet plane than a steam engine. When Jeremy can't land in a storm, an idea flies in to Thomas' funnel - he relocates the picnic to Jeremy's hanger. He is proud to be a steam engine after all!

Sir Handle has a problem - he starts to rattle and rocks when going uphill. So, when Mr Percival gives him a delicate job, he secretly asks his friends for help! Mr Percival is impressed and asks him to take him and his wife for a picnic. This time he can't hide the truth – he shudders and shakes! Sir Handle explains his problem to Mr Percival who sends him for repairs straightaway.

Thomas bumps James’ truck out of jealousy causing flour to pour out everywhere! He is horrified at what he has done and puffs to the mill to get new flour. Thomas finds the mill closed, with the only truck of flour stuck behind a big line of empty trucks. Thomas asks James to help and together they get to the flour!

A funfair comes to the island. All the engines get to pull a part of it, except for Percy who’s given the job of pulling coal. Disappointed not to be given an important job, Percy leaves his coal and tries to help the others with the funfair.

Duncan is taking the bell from the clock tower to be specially polished. He is too busy listening to the sounds of the bell when he goes over bumps to hear the foreman’s instructions to go slowly. Duncan hits a dip in the track and the bell bounces off, landing in a tree! He races to it, just in time for it to fall back on his flatbed. Slowly and carefully Duncan takes the bell to the polishers.

Toby worries that he won’t have time to go to the farm and see the animals after The Fat Controller gives him three unexpected specials. He calls on his friends to help, but they are too busy. This makes Toby sad. On his way to the farm, Toby sees Henry broken down and Henry explains that the other engines were helping him. They had been helping a friend after all.

Thomas gets cross when Duncan and Peter Sam tease him for not knowing what a Christmas tree looks like. Determined to prove himself, Thomas races off with what he thinks is a Christmas tree. But when he breaks hard sending his load into the canal, he realises it was not a tree after all. Thomas decides he needs help after all and heads off to find Sir Handle.

Gordon is determined to set a record by pulling the express one more time! When he is given Henry’s special coal by mistake, he doesn't stop, hoping it’ll make him go faster. Poor Henry is left struggling with ordinary coal and a clogged firebox. When Gordon’s conscience gets the better of him, he abandons his record attempt and puffs back to Henry.

Diesel is not impressed when he hears Gordon has set a record for pulling the express and he is to receive a set of special coaches. Diesel explains to Emily that he also has broken a record, for shunting trucks. Later at Gordon’s ceremony, Emily arranges a special surprise for Diesel too!

Thomas races Spencer through Kellsthorpe station, creating a gust of wind so strong that it blows The Fat Controller’s top hat off! Thomas promises to retrieve the hat and gives chase but every time he nearly gets to it, the hat blows away. Eventually he stops and the hat floats gently onto Thomas’ funnel. Sometimes going slow is just as useful as going fast!

Fearless Freddie has returned to the narrow gauge, bragging that he's the fastest engine in the hills and challenging Rheneas and Skarloey to a race! Rheneas is so desperate to beat Freddie that he steams right off the track! Freddie is sorry for encouraging the younger engines to go too fast.

While carrying toffee for toffee apples, Thomas is daydreaming about what to wear to the children’s fancy dress party. Distracted, he races into a siding, hits the buffers and gets covered in toffee! Running late, he takes a shortcut down an old overgrown line. Branches and leaves stick to him and the children say that he looks like a big leafy bush – he has come in fancy dress after all!

Henry is eager to prove his strength to Gordon and so takes twenty trucks of hay bales up a hill - but they’re too heavy! Henry spots that Gordon has left one of his trucks open - letting all the cows escape. Henry uses his hay to lead the cows all the way to Farmer McColl’s farm, proving that you don’t need to be strong to be useful!

Thomas sets out to prove that he is faster than Gordon. He races from location to location so fast that he leaves holidaymakers behind! Bertie the bus sees what is happening and chases after him, collecting the stranded passengers. Thomas realises what he has done and takes the holidaymakers to the seaside where he decides that it's much better to see one place properly, than lots in a hurry!

A shooting star is light up the night sky on the Island of Sodor. All the engines are making wishes. When the power fails, Thomas takes a long route to the power station, eager not to miss the shooting star but instead ends up lost! Suddenly the shooting star appears and lights up the sky, showing Thomas the way home.

Rusty is taking The Fat Controller and his family to the mountains for a walk but, before that, he must take the workers to put up direction signs along the mountain trails. When the Hatt Family don’t turn up at the end of their walk, Rusty realises the signposts must be wrong. He quickly deduces where the Hatts must be and races off to find them.

Toby is sad when his leaky roof gets fixed. He explains that he liked the holey old roof because birds would fly though the holes and make their nests. Thomas has an idea for the wood from Toby’s old roof to be made into a birdhouse. Toby is delighted!

Edward dismisses the new crane, Rocky, as new-fangled nonsense. But when Edward causes a spillage on the tracks, he realises Rocky is the only one big enough to help! Edward realises that Rocky is useful after all.

A gust of wind attaches a snowman balloon to Thomas’s buffers. The balloon follows Thomas all over the Island of Sodor, but Thomas doesn’t know why. Will he ever get to the bottom of the balloon mystery?!

Skarloey worries that he is a scaredy engine. But when he helps Rusty cross a rickety old bridge, Duncan across flooded tracks and, finally, saves Rheneas from a falling log, he realises that he’s not scaredy at all!

Thomas is jealous when James is chosen to pull the Sodor school football team carriages. When Bertie breaks down carrying lots of children, Thomas offers to take them to the match. Then he borrows flags and scarves to decorate James. James looks wonderful and everyone is delighted!

Rheneas decides to help his friend and take Skarloey’s coal trucks, but when he puffs up a steep hill, they prove to be too heavy for him! Rheneas decides to leave Skarloey’s trucks in a siding and deliver his own first. When he returns, Skarloey’s trucks have vanished!

Rosie is happy to help Thomas deliver special birthday mail to Alice on High Farm, when he gets stuck in a landslide. When she returns, Thomas is delighted to see Alice on board Rosie, who has come to say thank you.

James is bringing coal to the wharf so that Duncan can take it to the villages. Duncan challenges James to a race – he’ll deliver the coal faster than James can bring it to the wharf. But James is too fast for Duncan, so he decides to hide coal while James isn’t looking. James ends up working extra hard but eventually runs out of coal!

At the docks, Salty tells Thomas about the lost pirate treasure of Sodor, giving him the old clues to its whereabouts. Thomas goes on a quest to find the treasure, finds the final clue and reveals the location of the lost treasure!
