Thomas and Friends

While Thomas and Percy wait for an important cargo ship at the docks, they play hide and seek. Percy is cross with Thomas for cheating and so, when Thomas calls out to Percy to tell him the ship has arrived, Percy doesn’t believe him and stays hidden! Thomas asks Cranky to help him find Percy and Cranky quickly spots him. Thomas declares that Percy is the best hider and Cranky is the best finder!

Gordon must take an important engineer to repair some points but mistakenly picks up the wrong person! Realising his mistake, Gordon feels silly but he can’t head back to collect the engineer as the lines are blocked. Gordon realises that even he needs help sometimes and asks all the engines to help ferry the engineer up the line. Soon the points are repaired and the engines are on their way!

Thomas is taking the mayor’s new sailing boat to the docks. He is so proud to be taking the beautiful boat that he doesn’t wait for the engineer to lower the mast. The wind in the sails pushes Thomas along, sending him racing past the harbour and unable to stop! Thomas realises he’s been very silly and waits patiently for the engineer to lower the sails and safely puffs the boat to the harbour!

Emily is embarrassed to be working with Whiff, a friendly rubbish collection engine. The other engines tease her about her smelly new friend. Spencer's way is blocked by the rubbish trucks Emily was supposed to move with Whiff. Instead, she asks Gordon and Spencer to help, but both refuse! Only Whiff is willing to help move the smelly trucks. Emily is pleased to call Whiff her friend.

Thomas feels silly when he fails to prove that he is faster, shinier and stronger than Spencer! But, when an emergency call comes in, and Spencer’s boiler is cold, Thomas is raring to go! This time its Spencer’s turn to feel silly!

Madge must take Duncan by road after the Narrow gauge tracks get blocked by heavy snow. They have such fun along the country roads that Madge skids and ends up hanging over the edge of a steep valley! Slowly and carefully Madge drives back onto the road. Both Madge and Duncan agree that sometimes slow and careful is the best way to be!

While delivering the mail at night, Percy sees some flashing lights in the sky and is convinced they are a spaceship. Thomas is determined to prove his friend right but when he spots mysterious lights in the distance, they turn out to be Jeremy landing at the airport! Back at the sheds, he explains the truth and Percy decides that Jeremy is better than any spaceship!

At the coaling plant, Thomas meets a big grumpy truck called ‘Hector the Horrid’ who roars at him to leave him alone. Enough is enough when Hector scares Rosie away. Thomas biffs him, sending him flying off the track. Hector reveals that he roared because he’s scared - he’s never been filled with coal before. Thomas helps Hector and shows him that being filled with coal can be fun!

A storyteller comes to the island and Thomas is to show her the sights of Sodor so she can write a special story. Every time he reaches a new sight, Thomas is called upon to help a friend in need. Thomas is disappointed - he hasn’t managed to take the Storyteller to see any sights for her story. But she decides to write a story all about the day that Thomas helped his friends. Thomas is delighted!

A storm comes to the hills of Sodor! The little narrow gauge engines must help bring the sheep to safety but Skarloey is frightened of the lightening and hides whilst the other engines puff up and down with the sheep. The other engines soon run out of coal and, with the sheep in danger, Skarloey puffs into action, realising that he can do more than he thought!

Thomas must take a new light bulb to the Sodor lighthouse but is so determined to finish in time for a fireworks display that he can’t resist speeding up. He goes so fast that he crashes, breaking the bulb! Thomas puffs off to collect a new bulb, knowing he will miss the display. But when he sees the lighthouse beaming, Thomas thinks it looks as wonderful as any fireworks!

The Thin Controller asks Sir Handel to prepare a train full of logs for Thomas to collect. It is very urgent and Sir Handel is told to ask the first engines he sees to help him. But instead, Sir Handel decides to find the best engines for the job. Just in time, Sir Handel realises that his friends ARE the best engines to help and when he asks them to begin work right away, the job is soon done.

Thomas is to pick up some items for the magician’s magic show but he is so distracted thinking about the show that he collects all the wrong items! When he realises what he has done, he puffs off to collect the correct items... arriving back just in time for the grand finale!

Henry is given the important job of collecting presents for the children but he finds it difficult without his lucky trucks. He focuses and delivers all the presents to the delighted children and Henry feels like the luckiest engine of all!

When Billy comes to the island, Thomas shows him how to do his jobs. Billy doesn’t want to listen and calls Thomas bossy before racing away. Eventually Thomas gives up and soon Billy runs out of coal and water, just as Thomas had warned. Billy is sorry. Together, they finish the jobs and Billy admits that he did like working with Thomas after all.

Toby is given a special job – to take Alicia Botti the opera singer to a special concert. Toby worries so much about making a mistake that he forgets to slow at a corner, takes the wrong track and speeds through a big puddle. At the wash-down, Toby notices the workmen work cheerfully, without worrying. Later, Toby doesn’t worry anymore and does his job perfectly!

Thomas is delivering the Fat Controller’s new car to the Sodor Show. When Gordon challenges him to a race, Thomas doesn’t wait to be coupled to the car’s flatbed. He races to the top of Gordon’s Hill, only for the car to race down the other side without him! Finally, the flatbed hits a bump in the track and the car lands in a haystack. Thomas feels silly.

All the engines think Edward knows everything. When he’s given the job of taking the mail, Edward wants to ask for help, but worries that he’ll look silly. He delivers the mail to the wrong places and, after trying to fix his mistake, finally decides to ask for help. When Percy is happy to help, Edward doesn’t feel silly anymore.

While at the Wharf, Thomas uses his new whistle to make the narrow gauge engines jump. This makes the other engines laugh and soon they are all joining in the fun! They have a wonderful time until an extra big noise derails Sir Handle. The engines all help clear up the wharf, before playing one last trick on the Thin Controller!

Madge the snub-nose lorry is to pull the brass band for the country show. However, she is so busy making sure that the other engines are sparkling clean that she doesn’t get herself clean in good time! She rushes around and, in the process, gets everyone else muddy again! This time Madge leaves the engineers to it and everyone is gleaming just in time for the rally!

Thomas is at the fitters’ yard. Before his final inspection is done, he excitedly puffs away to collect the school choir and take them to a concert. Soon, nasty noises start coming from his engine but Thomas puffs on. When he breaks down, Thomas feels very silly. Henry shunts him to the fitters’ yard to be repaired and, this time, Thomas waits patiently for his final inspection.

James is delighted to be taking the Mayor of Sodor to the Festival of Lights. When the other engines ask him to help them with their jobs, he refuses, heading off to get clean for his grand entrance. The Fat Controller tells James that the others will miss the opening of the Festival and James realises that his entrance won’t be grand without his friends there to see it.

Duncan becomes fed up with his straw deliveries! He decides to abandon his straw collection to try some other engines’ jobs. He makes lots of people cross when he does neither of his new jobs properly! Duncan owns up and puts everything right. He goes back to delivering straw – it’s a very important job after all.

Percy is given four jobs - collecting holiday mail, delivering lights for the town hall, taking children to a summer party and, most importantly of all, taking Dowager Hatt’s luggage to the airport before her plane leaves.

The Thin Controller, has a new bicycle delivered – but it’s missing a bell! Freddie is determined to find one and prove himself to James. He looks all over trying out different kinds of bells - a cow bell, some clowns’ bells, a school bell - but nothing is good enough! Freddie has a clever idea to use the bell from the Thin Controller’s old bicycle. Everyone is very impressed – even James!
